Training & Job Placement Manager

The Job Placement & Training Manager role is essential to the long-term success of Create Common Good’s mission of using food to change lives and build healthy communities. In direct support of CCG’s mission, this role manages the practical kitchen portion of our training curriculum as well as the job placement of our trainees, the single most important impact metric for our organization.  This important and dynamic role works very closely with the Community Impact & Training Manager and Production Manager, and reports directly to the CEO.

Role and Responsibilities

Job Placement & Relationship Management

·       Establish & maintain relationships with employment partners

·       Develop job leads for trainee placement

·       Assist trainees in finding and obtaining placement in a food service related jobs

·       Conduct regular follow up with trainees & employers to monitor effectiveness of training program

·       Capture and track all activities listed above

 

Food Service Training

·       Conduct Level 2 experiential portion of the training program (second four weeks of 8-week program)

o   Recipe and lunch preparation M/T/W to include serving and clean-up

o   Management of Nutritious Snack Program for Low-Income Kids prepared by trainees

o   Assistance to social enterprise production team when needed

·       Maintain trainee and employer information in Salesforce

·       Perform orientations for potential trainees

·       Assist with post-assessment of trainees

·       Assist in conducting intake interviews

·       Assist in development of barrier plans with trainees

 

Training & Job Placement Support

·       Training Agency Partners communication and outreach including: providing partners with training courses and intake information as well as provide feedback regarding trainees

·       Coordinate trainee resume editing/creation and job application help

·       Coordinate mock job interviews

·       Coordinate learning of email use and online applications

·       Perform trainee & employer follow-up

 

Training Volunteer/Dietetic Intern Coordinator

·       Identify all potential volunteer capacity building opportunities related to training within CCG

·       Conduct volunteer orientations: expectations, boundaries, how-to’s, and tips

·       Develop calendar of monthly needs

·       Handle all volunteer recruitment, correspondence, and appreciation activities

·       Guide dietetic intern activities as they relate to recipe development, nutrition analysis, etc.

 

Other Duties

In collaboration with the Community Impact & Training Manager:

·       Develop and execute Food Service Level 2 curriculum

o   Lesson plans, worksheets, PowerPoint, and other materials

o   Design tools to assess mastery of each learning objective: warm-ups, quizzes, performance assessments, etc.

·       Identify goals & objectives for each phase of training

·       Work to continually improve training assessments and grading rubric for each phase of training

Skills Requirements

·       Ability to communicate effectively one-on-one with trainees, employees, volunteers & other partners from diverse backgrounds including non-native English speakers

·       Ability to tailor curriculum to different employment barriers

·       Disciplined with a high attention to detail

·       Highly organized and thorough

·       Excellent written and verbal communication

·       Ability to work independently and as a team member

·       Able to delegate tasks to subordinates and manage projects effectively

·       Ability to take direction, but also perform in a self-directed manner

·       Ability to perform all duties in a manner that is consistent with CCG values: gratitude, excellence and engagement

 

Knowledge Requirements (Education/Certifications)

·       3-5 years of leadership experience in the Restaurant or Food Industry

·       Culinary Arts Education or equivalent culinary experience preferred

·       Training/teaching experience a plus

·       Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

·       Ability & willingness to learn new computer software (Example:  Salesforce)

 

Physical Abilities

·       Lift 35 lbs

·       Stand on feet for at least 4 hours a day

·       Able to sit for long periods of time

·       Current driver’s license with a good driving record

 

Prerequisites

·       Pass the ServSafe Manager test within 30 days of start date
